Meta Tags and Data Collection ServicesSummary Meta
information is information that describes the set of information it is
connected to.
Meta
information is information that describes the set of information it is
connected to. For example a brief description, similar to a small blurb found after
the title in the table of contents in a magazine is considered Meta information. Meta information is identified in web pages by
the Meta tags in the Head of the web page.
A web page’s Meta information is used in many ways. Most
search engines, with exception to Google and a few others, use this information
to identify the content of the page in order to index and enable web users to
find the content they are searching for. 404Browser uses Meta information in
the Suggested page feature pulls the keywords, part of the Meta
data, and outputs the results of the keywords from a search engine. 404Browser’s
Automatic Bookmark Organization uses the Meta
information, description and keywords, to identify it into groups of web pages
with similar content. To add Meta tags to a
web page follow the example:
<meta name="description" content="A small description
of the web page.">
<meta name="keywords" content="Home Page, web
page, etc..">
If the XHTG is used replace the description and title with a
unique tag in the template, this will fill in the keywords and description to
the corresponding page from the data file.
